Acupuncture
Many people are shocked that dogs and cats accept acupuncture comfortably. In general, the older the pet, the more years a set of symptoms has “built up,” and the more acupuncture sessions will be needed. Younger dogs or cats of any age often require fewer or more infrequent treatments. We believe better outcomes occur when the practitioner stays with the patient and caretaker. This way the pet does not have to worry because the pack is together, and he or she can relax. The use of dry needling, or placing fine steel needles under the skin in specific points is centuries old, but we usually only need about fifteen or twenty minutes to break up old Qi stasis or painful, arthritic spots within the body. In addition to the treatment of painful conditions, points are blended in a specific manner, making deep physiologic changes possible, including organ balance, appetite enhancement and an endorphin-driven sense of well-being. Liver disease, kidney disease, lung and stomach pathologies can all be cured or aided using this ancient and safe technique.
