Reading at Village Books in Bellingham

Join local author Donna Kelleher on her journey into holistic veterinary medicine. Each chapter in her book highlights a new animal and a new natural method of treatment and raises philosophical questions about animal care and welfare. In The Last Chance Dog, Donna Kelleher offers advice on everything from vaccinations and pet-food shopping to affordable, easy-to-administer treatments for allergies, digestive problems, urinary tract infections, pain, hot spots, itchy skin, fear, and anxiety. Inspirational and nothing short of miraculous, the stories of ailing and recovering animals—and the people who love them—are as unforgettable as they are true.

We might revisit Rio, a chestnut mare whose sarcoid tumor disappeared with acupuncture treatments. Or Jupiter, a white poodle whose intestinal imbalance cleared up with food allergy treatments. A guest appearance with one of her furry patients may be an additional surprise!

Fairhaven is only a little over an hour's drive north of Seattle. It would be a wonderful way to spend a summer night!
