Neurologic Problems

Acupuncture and chiropractic are directly wired into the nervous system and can create  profound and hasty positive changes within the animal's body. Epileptic seizures, certain lick granulomas, disc or back pain can all be caused by an imbalance in the nervous system. When we insert an acupuncture needle into a specific point, a neuron (C- or A-delta fiber) is stimulated and instantly, enkephalins and endorphins are released into the bloodstream. These are endogenous ways the body controls its own pain, and they are often up to forty times more potent than morphine.

In addition, interneurons at the spinal cord level and central neurochemical peptides affect the autonomic nervous system and we can see those effects. We see nose dripping, heart rate changes and deep abdominal breathing due to the parasympathic input. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we are often increasing the yin by strengthening the parasympathic nervous system.

Here are three neurologic cases that have benefited from acupuncture, herbs and diet:

Border Collie Taz rests, his breathing deepens and his nose drips as the acupuncture needles stay in for about 15 minutes.  The profound effects of acupuncture on his nervous system ward off epileptic seizures.
English Bulldog Burl suffered from three major seizures before undergoing NAET clearing for food allergies and regular acupunture. He now runs and plays with no issues.
This is Harley.  Back problems are very common in Dachsunds like Harley, and back surgeries can be avoided using acupuncture. Long-backed breeds like Basset Hounds, Corgis an Dachsunds can all benefit from periodic acupuncture for
treatment of back pain, spasms and disc disease.
